CJM

Introduction

Understand what CJM measures and where to start with your website.

CJM helps you understand what happens on your website and follow the journey from a visit to a contact request or purchase. The data you see depends on the sources you connect and the actions you configure.

Start with one practical goal: see a visit from your website arrive in CJM. You can then add the actions that matter to your business.

The basics

TermWhat it means
ProjectThe space in your organization where you configure tracking and view its data. Select the right project before making changes.
PixelThe script you install on your website to send data to CJM. Creating it in the dashboard prepares its configuration; you still need to install it.
EventAn action you measure, such as a page view or a button click. Some events need configuration in the dashboard; others need help from your website developer.
ProfileA record of a visitor or contact and the activity CJM can associate with them. A visit alone does not provide a person's name or email address.

What you can measure with the Pixel

  • Visits: new Pixels include the page-view event page_view.
  • Interactions: review and configure events in Events; use Tracking plan for reviewable starting proposals.
  • Contact requests: connect your form submission to the lead capture setup.
  • Purchases: ask your website developer to connect store actions and order data using the ecommerce guide.

Choosing a website platform does not install the Pixel or configure purchases. A button click is an interaction; it does not by itself confirm a submitted request or completed order.

The Pixel also needs to receive the visitor's choices from your cookie banner. Those choices affect the data it sends. Follow the cookie banner guide as part of installation.

Find your way around the dashboard

Open your project and select Setup → Pixels to create or reopen a Pixel. Its setup includes Overview, Events, Destinations, Installation & test, and Settings.

Use Installation & test → Live verification for your first check: perform an action on the published website and look for the event in the dashboard. Seeing an event there confirms its arrival in CJM; forwarding it to Meta or Google requires separate configuration.
