Connect Meta Ads
Authorize Meta, choose the ad account, Page and Pixels, and import campaign data.
Connect Meta Ads to make the project's Meta campaigns available in CJM and prepare Meta Pixels for Offline Conversion and Server Tracking. Use Signals afterward to verify delivery.
Before you start
You need:
- the correct CJM organization and project selected;
- a Meta account that can access the intended ad account, Facebook Page, and Meta Pixels;
- permission to approve the access requested on Meta's authorization screen.
CJM requests access to read and manage ads, retrieve leads, list and read Pages, manage Page metadata, and access Business Manager resources. These permissions support account selection, campaign imports, lead forms, Pixel selection, and conversion delivery. Approving them does not by itself enable any conversion send.
1. Authorize Meta
- During guided setup, open Marketing Channels. For an existing project, open Setup → Channels.
- Find the Meta card and select Connect.
- On Meta, sign in with the account that can access the resources for this project.
- Review the requested access and complete authorization.
- Return to CJM. If the card shows Incomplete, select Complete Setup. If it already shows Active, select Manage to check the configuration.
Authorization connects the Meta account to the current CJM project. It does not select the ad account, Page, or Pixels for you.
2. Select the project resources
In the Meta configuration:
- Select the correct Ad Account. Use the search and Previous or Next controls if the list spans multiple pages.
- Select the related Facebook Page.
- Under Pixels, choose a Pixel and select Add. Repeat this step if the project uses more than one Meta Pixel.
- Check that each added Pixel shows the expected name, identifier, and status.
- Select Close when the configuration is correct.
The account and Page selections are saved when you select them; there is no separate final save button. The trash icon removes a Pixel from this CJM connection immediately. It does not delete that Pixel from Meta.
Adding a Meta Pixel here only makes it available to the project. Enable it for Offline Conversion or select it in a Server Tracking rule, then verify deliveries in Signals.
3. Import campaign data
Use a manual import when you need historical data that predates the connection or you want to refresh a specific period.
- On the connected Meta card, select Import Data.
- Choose a preset or select the start and end dates. The available interval ends today and can cover at most one year.
- Choose Daily, Weekly, or Monthly granularity.
- Select Start import.
- Follow the floating Imports in progress panel until the job shows Completed or Failed.
- Open Acquisition, then select a date range included in the import to check the channel and campaign data.
Granularity controls how the selected period is processed; it does not change the original campaign structure. Starting the job confirms that the import was queued, not that every row was imported successfully.
Connection states and actions
| What you see | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Active | The connection and required account configuration are available | Use Manage to review resources or Import Data to load a period |
| Incomplete | Meta authorization exists, but one or more required selections are missing | Select Complete Setup and check Ad Account, Facebook Page, and Pixels |
| Error | CJM cannot currently use the connection correctly | Check access on Meta, then use Reconnect and review the configuration |
Reconnect repeats Meta authorization for the same project. It is useful after access changes or an expired connection; it is not a separate second connection.
If the result is different
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| The expected ad account is missing | Confirm that the Meta user has access to it. Search the list and check its other pages before reconnecting. |
| The Facebook Page is missing | Confirm that the same Meta user can access the Page and approved the requested Page permissions. Then reconnect. |
| No Pixels can be added | Select an Ad Account and Facebook Page first. Also check that the Pixel belongs to the selected account and is not already listed below. |
| The card remains Incomplete | Open Complete Setup and fill every resource shown as missing. Closing authorization alone is not enough. |
| An import shows Failed | Check that the connection is still usable, then retry a smaller date range. Reconnect if the card also reports an error. |
| No conversions appear in Meta | A channel connection only prepares the destination. Configure Offline Conversion or a Server Tracking rule, then verify that flow in Signals. |
The dashboard currently exposes Manage, Reconnect, and Import Data, but no disconnect action. Do not remove access directly in Meta unless you intend to stop the integration.
